A National Conversation: Paula Deen

Paula doing what she loves
Everybody loves cooking shows. Julia Chiles. Alton Brown. Iron Chef. Bobby Flay. And that big fat guy who screams after he puts pepper in anything. America loves it’s food and it’s T.V. personalities around it. But what about the (formerly) blonde haired lady from Savannah. That’s right, Paula Deen.
Recently we at Baby Hippo have found that we have contrasting opinions about this lovable southerner. Zack claims that she is just as lovable and adorable as your own granny who bakes you cookies every time she sees you. Collin cannot think of a person he would more like to punch square in the face…(actually both of us feel we could punch Nancy Grace in the face and watch the turkey neck she has jiggle with pain).
So why does Collin hate Paula Deen? Simple. She is way too loud for being on television. She will scream at a camera as if there were no such thing as a microphone. She also mispronounces many words. For example, the word “head”. This word contains only one syllable. Thus, the word should be spoken with one fluent sound. She pronounces it as “Hay-yeh-ed”. That’s 3 syllables. Not normal. Annoying, you bet. Also, Collin believes that her two children who show up on her show on occasion are just there for the paycheck. Who even really likes those guys!?!?! Really, I bet she can’t even cook that well, and all she really knows how to cook is french toast and pork chops.
With that said, why does Zachary not hate her, but even claims he “likes” her? She’s obviously lovable like every man’s grandma. She works hard. She built her empire from the ground up. She went from feeding her family with good southern cooking, to feeding millions of American viewers with her meals (including her very own resturant in Savannah, Georgia). Not to mention, she’s just a nice woman. She’s one of those ladies that you feel warm on the inside. Plus, her food is delicious. She’s published many cookbooks that feature amazing dishes such as Deep Fried Mac-n-Cheese.
So to start of the national conversation, please check the poll we have and vote to see who likes and dislikes Mrs. Paula Deen. Also, please leave us comments with your opinon of her bright smile or annoying stare. Whatever it is, we would love to hear it. The nation conversation begins….now.
